Electricity is no longer needed: a computer that works with light

< img src = "/uploads/blogs/97/60/ib-frymtrqan_7b271523.jpg" Alt = "Electricity is no longer needed: Created by computer; < P > Lightmatter Startup has developed a new computer chip that can speed up artificial intelligence processes and save electricity. The company uses light rays to transmit data between computers rather than electrical signals.

< p > About this & nbsp; reports & nbsp; interestingenGineering.com.

< P > Normal computers use transistors that look like tiny electrical switches. But the Lightmatter chip uses precisely calibrated light rays that interact with each other. The results are measured using an integrated chip -made chip -made partnership with Globalfoundries.

< p > hybrid design of chip & mdash; Phone kernels operating with traditional electronic control systems and memory & mdash; It means that it can be programmed using standard machine training frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensorflow. This compatibility indicates that developers can integrate photo processors into existing infrastructure, such as, for example, do with graphic processors. < P > Earlier, photographic computers have encountered accurate calculation problems. If the result was a very small number, the chip was answered by zero. Lightmatter solved this problem by grouping extremely large and small numbers before sending them through photonic schemes, guaranteeing that very small numbers will not be lost in the process.

< p > CEO of the company Nick Harris said that chip can solve some current II problems with the same accuracy as ordinary chips, but most likely will take decades before this technology becomes mainstream.
