Edgar Badía, the goalkeeper who wanted to be an astronomer
Al Getafe things are not working out this season. This Sunday he let slip a victory against a direct rival. Elche, who caught a goal in a corner kick in the first half, left Coliseum Alfonso Pérez with a point in the serve (1-1). Pere Milla's goal gave the tie to a team that Fran Escribá has changed face. Since the arrival of the Valencian coach, the Alicante club has won two games, has drawn another and lost four (against Barça, Madrid, Seville and Granada), but they have competed in all of them. Enes Ünal equalized the clash in the second section after a good play by Kubo and Edgar Badía, the goalkeeper who intervenes the most in LaLiga, made a formidable save, a postcard stretch, to stop Ángel from a penalty on the verge of the end. A draw does not give Elche respite, which is left with 25 points, two above the decline, marked by Eibar and Alavés – he still has to play for Wanda against Atlético – with 23. That is, the team that suffered in the background from the standings when Escribá arrived in mid-February, he is now one match away from the well with only ten games left for the end of LaLiga. The gap that Getafe has is greater, with 29 points, which this Sunday suffered a slump after taking a point from the leader last week. The tie also leaves him as he was, with the tension in his body and a couple of mistakes that are below.

The season is being so difficult for the azulones that the Bordalás style has been debated and debated . In the winter market, the team was reinforced with the assignments of Aleñá and Kubo, and after a few games with both starters, the coach sent them to the bench. The midfielder on loan from Barça recovered and won his place again. Against Elche, the Japanese also reappeared in the eleven. Both left flashes: they managed to lower the ball and give meaning to the game in a game that was a drag, with constant interruptions and very tight lines. In the first five minutes, the referee whistled four fouls, Getafe requested a penalty and the leather was stopped for more than half the time, a pressing problem in Spain, the league competition in which the ball rolls less minutes with a difference between the big tournaments in Europe. The added time was revealing of the rhythm: four minutes in the first section and eight in the second.
In that inhospitable environment, the feet of Kubo and Aleñá showed different nuances: some filtered passes, balls at last domesticated at grass level and attempts in one on one. But it was Elche that sang set pieces bingo. The Escribá team hit a corner after a poor clearance by Chakla. The Moroccan central defender, who seemed to be bothered by the sunlight, combed the ball back instead of clearing it to Cuenca. He fell at the feet of Gonzalo Verdú, who soon put a low cross for Pere Milla to push him point-blank into the net.
In matches as close as this one, with proposals so even and with so little risk with leather, find a goal is an oasis that can decide the sign and the rhythm of the match. For Elche, in addition, it is an ideal setting thanks to its forward, Argentine Lucas Boyé, a beacon that grabs all the balls and allows his team to stretch whenever they need oxygen.
The match became a punch for Getafe , which only created danger in the feet of Kubo and Aleñá. The referee signaled a penalty in the first half for a Fidel stomp on Unal after a good move by the Japanese, but the VAR sneaked that there was nothing. In the second section, Getafe slightly advanced the pressure and in a counter caught the tie. The ball reached Kubo, who beat Mojica one-for-one and put a low cross for Unal, who controlled and finished one meter from the goal.
The azulones closed the game with the best chances in a Kubo shot from a set piece, well rejected by Badía, and with several filtered passes from Aleñá. With the Japanese out of the field – Portillo entered in his place – the VAR tipped off again. Angel controlled the leather with his chest within the area. The cushioning took him away from the goal, but the ball touched Gonzaló Verdú's biceps, which covered the Canarian striker. Hernández Hernández consulted him on the screen and indicated the maximum penalty. Badía frustrated her, who made a great stretch to stop Ángel's shot at minute 84 and give his team a point.
