Eight people from Tajikistan were arrested in the USA, – media

Eight people from Tajikistan were arrested in the USA from Tajikistan on suspicion of links with the Islamic State terrorist group, reports The New York Post.

Six of them have Russian citizenship.

"In recent years Over the course of several days, Immigration Service agents arrested several noncitizens. The effort was conducted in close coordination with the FBI's counterterrorism team. Those arrested are in custody awaiting deportation proceedings,”– The newspaper quotes a joint statement from the US Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, released on Tuesday.

According to The New York Post, the suspects are officially detained for violating immigration laws.

All of them crossed the southern border, at least two – in the spring of 2023. They have not yet been charged with links to ISIS.

The FBI has been monitoring the group for several months, NBC News noted. During the wiretapping, it turned out that one of the suspects was talking about bombs.

According to the interlocutor of The New York Post, it could be about preparing a terrorist attack similar to the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 or “even worse.”
