Fire at the school Eabametoong: 2 more arrests

The Nishnwabe Aski Police Department announced Monday that it has arrested two teenagers in connection with the fire that demolished the John C. Yesno Education Center in Eabametoong First Nation on January 25, 2024.

This is in addition to the two other teenagers who were arrested last week.

The suspects, a 13-year-old girl and three teenagers aged 13, 14 and 17, respectively, all face the following charges:

The 17-year-old is also charged with possession of burglary tools and assault against a peace officer.

The four young people are in detention pending their next appearance on January 30.
