The fight against drug trafficking on the North Shore has made it possible to intercept, since mid-November, 29 drug traffickers in Forestville, Baie-Comeau, Chute-aux-Outardes and Sept-Îles.

Since November 15, specialized squads from the Sûreté du Québec and the crime investigation divisions majors of Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles carried out numerous arrests, searches and seizures.

In total, 17 residences and 12 vehicles were searched by the police.

The police officers seized:

Additionally, authorities seized $35,000, three vehicles in criminal property and 17 real or imitation firearms, including two .45 and 9mm handguns and a taser.

Among the 29 people arrested, some were released for later appearances.

Investigations are still in progress and other arrests are planned, according to the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

During the month of November, Radio-Canada journalists had learned that armed conflicts between the Hells Angels and street gangs from Quebec were on the rise in Eastern Quebec.
