This story began in the Sumy region, when the driver of an Opel Vectra violated traffic rules and crashed into a Renault Kangoo. The repair cost of Kangoo was estimated at UAH 168,000.

Both cars were insured, but Vectra – for a foreigner who brought it to Ukraine for one year in the temporary import regime. The Vectra driver who committed the accident received this car for use.

Ukrainian Fire Insurance Company refused to pay compensation to the Renault Kangoo driver. The motive is that the Vectra driver did not import it into Ukraine and, therefore, did not have the right to drive it.

The injured driver had to seek the truth in court. The case reached the Sumy Court of Appeal. However, even there he did not achieve the payment of insurance compensation for damage to him. The court concluded that the driver of the Opel Vectra owned it illegally and is not a person whose liability is insured.
