Donetsk woman convicted for passing data about Ukrainian Armed Forces in Zhytomyr region to Russian military intelligence

A resident of the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region was found guilty of high treason, justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and glorifying its participants in a public indictment by the Zhytomyr regional prosecutor's office.

She was sentenced to a term of – 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Prosecutors proved that a woman who moved to the Zhytomyr region in March 2023 began cooperating with a military intelligence officer of the General Staff of the Russian Federation within a few months.

On the instructions of the curator, the convict traveled to the regional center, where she collected information about military facilities, their security system, movement and number of military equipment, as well as the number of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

She photographed military facilities, determined their GPS coordinates, indicated the exact address, and also took screenshots in the Google Maps application. She passed the obtained data to enemy intelligence for combat defeat.

The convict also informed an officer of the Russian General Staff via Telegram about the deployment of Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region.

It was established that at the same time the woman praised the members of the Wagner PMC and repeatedly shared posts on her social media page in support of the aggressor country.

The convict's illegal actions were exposed in August 2023.

She was awaiting the court's verdict in custody.
