The Institute of Consumer Expertise (IPE), which during the war did not conduct research on the quality of fuel at filling stations, still records an increase in counterfeit fuel filling stations. The director of this organization, Yuriy Chernobryvets, told about this
He stressed that he could not say exactly how common cases of selling counterfeit fuel have become. However, there is more of such fuel.
Chernobrivets said that the IPE now receives a lot complaints from car owners, because “sometimes fuel of such quality is sold that it cannot even be called gasoline.”
What is the reason for this phenomenon? The expert says that the whole point is in mini-refineries, which “produce fuel in artisanal conditions.” In his opinion, there can be up to 40% of such low-quality gasoline on the market now. However, this is a subjective opinion, it has not been confirmed by anything.
Meanwhile, earlier the State Consumer Service called for resuming checks on the quality of fuel sold at gas stations (checks were banned in March due to martial law). The reason for such a call is precisely the increase in low-quality fuel on the market. Whether the Cabinet of Ministers will allow the quality of fuel sold at gas stations to be checked again is not yet known.
