Patients with diabetes should avoid consuming plums. The same applies to individuals who need to lower their blood sugar levels. Men and women seeking to shed those extra pounds should also refrain from consuming plums. Breastfeeding mothers should not eat these fruits because of the risk of loose stools in infants. With rheumatism and gout, it is undesirable to include these fruits in the diet, the same takes place in cases of increased acidity of the stomach.

Plums, when consumed in large quantities by children, can cause bloating and diarrhea. Patients suffering from diseases of the urinary and gall bladder or kidneys are not recommended to consume these fruits due to the possible exacerbation of the disease.
