Doctor Who: War is Coming

Created in 1963, the British seriesDoctor Whois a monument of television, and more generally of British culture. Its aura has long since crossed the borders of the United Kingdom, and it has managed to establish itself among the essential series of our era, thanks to a large community of fans who are particularly active on the internet and social networks. Above all, some of its writers and actors have become real stars, like Steven Moffat – whose every creation is eagerly awaited – or even David Tennant (Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireGood Omens) and Matt Smith (The CrownHouse of the Dragon). 

The series, which got a makeover in 2023 with the return of showrunner Russell T. Davies, has now come under the Disney+ umbrella. At San Diego Comic Con, the major convention followed by the entire international press, the studio officially announced the start of work on a brand new show from the Whoniverse. Its title: The War Between the Land and the Sea. Co-written by Russell T. Davies and Pete McTighe, The five-episode series will mark the grand return of the Silurians and the Sea Devils, these amphibious humanoid beings who appeared in many revivals over the seasons of Doctor Who.

In terms of casting, The War Between the Land and the Sea will feature Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient, respectively in the roles of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and Colonel Ibrahim. Russell Tovey (Years & Years) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki) will also play in the series. According to showrunner Russell T. Davies, production will begin in August with filming scheduled to begin in September 2024. We can therefore likely expect a release sometime in 2025. We can't wait!
