Do you know the difference between fatigue and burnout?

How to tell the difference between fatigue from burnout/CATBOSS

Fatigue is a short-term condition, a consequence of intensive work or lack of sleep. Burnout is a long-term state of complete exhaustion: physical, moral, mental.

We all strive to be faster, more efficient, more productive. But workaholism has become a trap: studies show that excessive work leads to burnout and even depression.

In the International Classification of Diseases, burnout is defined as a consequence of long-term stress at the workplace, the symptoms of which are observed in 70% of workers in the world.

Main signs of burnout:

    < li>constant fatigue – even after sleep you do not feel rested;
  • decreased motivation – you are no longer interested in the work that used to inspire you;
  • cynicism or negativism – you start to have a negative attitude towards colleagues and work in general;
  • decreased efficiency – your work results deteriorate, you make more mistakes than before, or you begin to doubt your own abilities and competence.

The best treatment for burnout is prevention. Here are some simple steps to help prevent it:

1. Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. Spend your free time well, without “I'll work for a few more hours, and then I'll rest”.

2. Pay attention to a healthy lifestyle: walks, sports that you like (yoga, boxing, dancing, running).

3. Practice self-reflection. Regularly analyze how your work week went, what went well and what didn't, and how you can fix it in the future.

4. Do not hesitate to seek professional help. Even single sessions with a psychotherapist can alleviate your condition.

5. The most important thing is to take a vacation. You should not wait for a better time for rest, because it may not come soon.
