Apple has issued a stern warning to smartphone owners who fall asleep holding their device, connected to a charger.
They posted updated information on their official website.
iPhone users are encouraged to charge their smartphones only in a well-ventilated area and on a flat surface, such as a table or bedside tables.
The company advises to get rid of the habit of falling asleep in bed while charging a smartphone.
When charging, iPhones heat up, so if this heat does not have an outlet, it can cause burns or even a fire.
Apple urges people to avoid leaving their phone charging overnight as much as possible.
The risk of fire and shorting also increases when using non-genuine third-party chargers, as some cheaper accessories may not meet standards of Apple safety.
Smartphone owners are also advised to remove metal covers and not place foreign objects (such as keys, coins, batteries or jewelry) on the charger, as they may heat up or interfere with charging.
