Disney+ is not in the good books of its subscribers. The streaming platform recently updated its terms of use, and between the omnipresence of advertising and the even more drastic limitation of account sharing, the site is shown finger… And it won't stop there, since the price of the different formulas will also increase!
Disney+ wants your money (and doesn't hide it)
Since its launch at the end of 2019, Disney+ has continued to tighten its policy and increase the price of its subscriptions. The streaming service, which offers a very extensive catalog, ranging from the MCU to Pixar animated films, including the very distant universe of George Lucas, is increasingly expensive for viewers. When the platform arrived in France in April 2020, the single rate was “only” 6.99 euros per month, or 69.99 euros for a one-year commitment. In 4 years, the least we can say is that subscribers' wallets have continued to be increasingly solicited. Today, they must choose between three formulas, from Standard with advertising to Premium in HD, which corresponds to the old basic formula, but much more expensive. Unfortunately, this increase is not going to stop there…
In the United States, starting October 17, Disney+'s Premium plan will cost $16 per month. The company has confirmed that most of its streaming offerings, including Hulu and ESPN+, will cost around $1 to $2 more per month. The price of the ad-free subscription will therefore be more than double that displayed in 2019, when it was “only” $7 per month. An increase that will precede the arrival in their catalog of the latest successes of the firm with the big ears, Inside Out 2 and the lucrative Deadpool & Wolverine, and which will necessarily be adopted in the rest of the world, and therefore in France, in the months that follow…
And you, what do you think of this future price increase?
