Aliman fell ill with COVID-19 when his name was already entered on the ballot papers printed for the elections. By law, they are made two weeks before the vote. In this regard, the officials decided not to amend them.
On September 27, 1,200 of the 1,600 residents of the commune came to the polling stations and ticked the box opposite Aliman. With their voice, they wanted to honor the memory of the mayor, whose work everyone liked. In this regard, it was decided to hold re-elections, RIA Novosti reports.
