Scientists created a unique optical crystal capable of storing huge amounts of data — up to 360 TB — for billions of years. This technology, known as  «5D optical crystal», has the potential to revolutionize methods of information archiving and long-term data storage.

The crystal uses five’ dimensions to record information, including size, orientation and  the position of nanostructures inside the crystal.
