Cartoonist in several Quebec dailies and magazines, including The sun, for five decades, a convinced left-wing man, fervent separatist, Roland Berthiaume, alias Berthio, is no more. The artist with the sagacious pen died at the end of the day, Monday, after a short stay in a hospital in Montreal. He was 93 years old.
For ten years, he had not been the same man, confides his son Daniel on the phone. Severe aphasia prevented him from speaking and communicating with those around him. With a loss of autonomy, he spent his last days in a retirement home.
