Although auto sales fell sharply in Canada in 2020, the situation is turning out to be less difficult than one might think for some dealers.
“We think that the pandemic has affected the automotive industry in a very negative way, and it is true that in terms of sales, it has appeared enormously”, assesses the columnist of the Car guide Antoine Joubert, who points out that auto sales in Canada are down nearly 20% compared to 2019.
Despite this tumble, the sales of the majority of car dealerships remained relatively stable. Antoine Joubert even argues that some would have had a better financial year than 2019. “Most dealers of most brands made more money this year. than last year, ”he notes.
This is mainly due to a much lower inventory to bear and a higher profit per vehicle than usual.
Passing at the microphone of Pierre Nantel to QUB radio, Antoine Joubert gave details of this surprising situation to say the least. During this column, it was also about 2020 winners and losers, as well as the importance, for automobile manufacturers, of calling on local spokespersons in Quebec.
