The Day of Missile Forces and Artillery is a national holiday of Ukraine, celebrated annually on November 3. The holiday was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Day of Missile Troops and Artillery” dated October 31, 1997. Rocket troops and artillery– a type of ground forces consisting of operational-tactical and tactical missile units, howitzer, cannon, rocket and anti-tank artillery units and units, artillery reconnaissance, mortar units and anti-tank guided missile units.

They are designed to destroy manpower, tanks, artillery, anti-tank weapons of the enemy, aviation, air defense facilities and other important facilities during a joint military operation (battle). Missile troops and artillery are the main firepower in the operations conducted by the Ground Forces using conventional weapons, and perform up to 65-70% of the total volume of the task of destroying the enemy by fire.
