Specialists in data analytics will improve the demining process in Ukraine with the help of AI

The governments of Great Britain and Switzerland allocate 500 thousand dollars to support the project of prioritization in humanitarian demining. It is implemented by the company Palantir, which specializes in big data analytics.

This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Economy during the Conference on mine action in Ukraine UMAC-2024.

How prioritization will work

"Prioritization— one of the important processes in the construction of a complete system of anti-mine activity. Based on a large array of data processed by AI, we will be able to determine which areas should be demined first. And I am glad that we are moving quite quickly in building this process: we recently signed a memorandum with Palantir, and today we are launching a pilot project», — the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliya Svyridenko, noted.

Project implementation

The allocated money will go to support the pilot project in the Kharkiv region. It will allow checking the general logic and the prioritization algorithm developed by the Ukrainian team within one area.

After signing the project financing agreement, Ukrainian teams will have three months to test the prioritization system and, if discrepancies are found, to correct them. After a successful trial, the project is being scaled up to 10 war-affected areas. animation-event=”enters”>«Quality information management is an important element of the new National Strategy of Ukraine on mine action. And the Palantir platform can be the basis for creating a fast, effective mechanism for determining the priority of demining in Ukraine based on numerous data sources», — it is said in a joint statement of Great Britain and Switzerland.
