Hideo Kojima gives his opinion on Dandadan

A true legend of Japanese video games, Hideo Kojima is the author of several extremely famous works, such as Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. The Japanese artist has very close ties with Hollywood, where he has many friends, including Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro and Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. His cinephilia is well-known and is felt even in his video games, for which he does not hesitate to collaborate with Hollywood stars, such as Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux. But Hideo Kojima is also a consumer of Japanese animation; he thus had the opportunity to affirm his admiration for the master Hayao Miyazaki and the late Miyazaki. Apparently, Hideo Kojima continues to keep up with the times when it comes to the world of anime. Very present on the social network X, the Japanese developer has just given his opinion on the first episode of the adaptation of Dandadan by Yukinobu Tatsu produced by the studio Science Saru.

I got a little tired of reading, so I went through my subscriptions. I saw that the anime “Dandadan” was available, so I decided to watch the first episode. I haven't read the original manga, but being from the generation that loves the occult and UFOs, it really touched me. I was also flipping through the magazine “Mu”. I appreciate Science SARU's unique use of lenses and their animation style. It's also reassuring to know that Naoyuki Onda, someone from my generation, is doing the character designs. Shion Wakayama is also in it. I'll continue to watch ça.

As a reminder, Dandadan is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated anime of fall 2024, alongside Dragon Ball Daima, the remake of Ranma 1/2 by the MAPPA studio and the third and final part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Cleverly mixing occult, UFO, action and romantic comedies, Dandadan follows the adventures of two young high school students, Momo Ayase – the granddaughter of a medium who believes in ghosts – and Okarun – real name Ken Takakura, a shy young nerd passionate about aliens. Both full of schoolboy humor and action, the manga is a real star in bookstores. The first episode was released on Thursday, October 3, but we were able to discover the first three episodes in preview: go for it!
