The start of James Gunn's DCU is officially launched! The series Creature Commandos is coming soon to Max and is offering a first enticing teaser.
Creature Commandos: The First Series of the DCU
Considered a failure internally, particularly due to the many criticisms it received, the DC cinematic universe launched by Zack Snyder's Man of Steel has officially ended with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It is now the turn of filmmaker James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) to take the helm of the DCU.The American filmmaker, who demonstrated the full extent of his talent with the excellent The Suicide Squad (2021) and the series Peacemaker (2022), has announced the outlines of his new cinematic universe, which is supposed to start this year with the animated series Creature Commandos, which he wrote and produced, and in July 2025 with the film Superman, which he is directing.
Taking place after the events of the first season of Peacemaker, the series Creature Commandos therefore has the delicate mission of serving as a showcase and hook for the DCU. We were therefore eagerly awaiting the first images of this animated series, which will join the Max platform catalog starting next December. At the San Diego Comic Con – the largest American convention specializing in Pop Culture -, Warner unveiled the first teaser for Creature Commandos.
Set after the events of Peacemaker, the series follows the adventures of Amanda Waller (still played by actress Viola Davis), at the head of a new group of monstrous agents, called Task Force M or Creature Commandos. Among its members: The Bride, Dr. Phosphorus, Weasel (already appeared in The Suicide Squad), G.I. Robot, Nina Mazursky and Frankenstein. The program is at least enticing: action, jokes about Nazis and awkward moments with Weasel. Pure James Gunn, in short!
We are terribly impatient to discover Creature Commandos on Max next December. And you, what did you think of this first teaser? Don't hesitate to tell us in the comments section.
