The Washington Capitals were fined $ 100,000 for failing to follow National Hockey League (NHL) protocols for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
The League punished the “Caps” since individuals from the organization did not wear the face cover during close contact, it was specified in a statement.
This is the first time this season that such a sanction has been issued by the NHL. Similar fines for failure to follow sanitary procedures had previously been issued in the NFL.
In addition, four Capitals players must now be absent due to COVID-19, the Sportsnet network reported. They are Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov and Ilya Samsonov; four Russians.
Remember that this list of absentees is not necessarily intended for athletes who have tested positive for the virus. Several hockey players are placed there as a precaution when trying to trace the contacts of a sick person.
On the Bettman Tour, the Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes have been battling coronavirus outbreaks in their camps since the start of the 2020-21 season.
