Xinhua News Agency reported that coronavirus was detected on the packaging of frozen squid from Russia in China. Residents previously interacting with the product were identified for the appropriate tests.

The incident took place on September 18 in Changchun City. Traces of the coronavirus on Russian seafood were found during a routine inspection, as confirmed by the local Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Medical authorities tracked down residents who had contact with the product while it was on the counter for further monitoring of their well-being. Patient tests for coronavirus infection were negative.
The city of Fuyui is also under threat, where part of the squid from the same batch with the infected pack was sent. Local health officials urged residents to also get tested for COVID-19, informing the authorities before this about the interaction with the product.
