Conducted active anti-Ukrainian propaganda on social media - woman reported on suspicion in Zhytomyr region

Under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office, a local resident was reported for suspicion of producing and distributing materials that contain justification and denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, including by presenting the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine as an internal civil conflict with the use of mass media, committed repeatedly.

According to the investigation, a resident of the city of Andrushivka created and distributed content with hostile propaganda narratives on her Facebook account under a fictitious name between August 2023 and June 2024. Her page had access to a significant number of followers.

The posts and videos contained provocative calls for men to self-organize and establish ties with other groups to unite Ukrainians, Russians, and Belarusians into a «united people». It was claimed that Ukraine would not win, the territory was simply being cleared.

In addition, the suspect distributed videos and comments in the media that denied the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, and expressed doubts about the demarcation of state borders.

The examination established that the distributed materials contain justification, recognition of the legitimacy, and denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Currently, the suspect has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of a personal bond.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the USBU in the region.

The crime committed is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to eight years with or without confiscation of property.
