South American giants who went to the Second Division 1: 50
(CNN Spanish) – Colo-Colo avoided this Wednesday the descent to the second division of Chilean football.
The biggest club in Chile played its stay in the first category against Universidad de Concepción, and took the victory by 1 to 0. The saving goal arrived at 19 minutes, through the Argentine Pablo Solari.
That single goal allowed the club to dodge what would have been its first relegation in its 96-year history
Although the majority of supporters stood by the club's side at the worst moment in its history, before the defining match, a flag was posted outside the club complex that read: "They win or we kill them."
The Chilean giant eluded the same "ghost of the B" that tripped up South American giants such as River Plate, Palmeiras, America in the last decade from Cali or Independent from Avellaneda.
