Coal production in Russia continues to decline
In June, coal mining in Russia is expected at the level of 30.4 mln tonnes, informed the press service of the Ministry.
In the same month in 2019, it amounted to 33 million tons, in may this year – 30.9 million tons.
Coal mining in Russia this year is reduced from month to month. So, in January it amounted to 33.6 million tons, in February – fell to 32 million tons. In March, the index returned to the level of 33.6 million tons, but then declined in April to 32.6 million tons, in may to 30.9 million tonnes.
As explained in the Ministry, the industry as a whole “there is a tendency to decrease in demand on a global scale with the growth of gas, nuclear generation and renewable energy”. The decline in may, the Ministry attributed the decline in the production of TES on the background temperature and load HPP because of the floods.
According to Rosstat, the volume of coal production in January-may this year amounted to 161 million tons, which is by 10.7% less than in the same period of 2019.
