Despite the cold and the snow, many teachers decided to continue giving lessons outside, to the great delight of the children.
In Stéphanie Tardif’s class in Lévis, the 15 students spend a good part of their time outside.
The learning remains the same as that which could be taught inside a school room.
“I really take the elements of nature, what we see with the students, the interests that emerge, then I come to graft the essential knowledge of the program”, she explained in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
The teacher says she sees a growing improvement in the gross motor skills of her students with such a device.
“We currently have three classes that can sometimes spend between 1 hour 45 and 2 hours 15 outside,” said the director of Charles-Rodrigue school, Christine Guay.
During very cold weather, the students spend about an hour outside, come home to warm up and then go to the toilet before going out.
The enthusiasm for this kind of initiative does not seem to dry up and will be taken into account in the expansions of several schools in the area, in particular the Pixels school and the Saint-Apollinaire school.
