Chip maker ASML may disable equipment if China invades Taiwan

The world's two largest chip companies are preparing for war. According to Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources, ASML said it is capable of remotely shutting down equipment if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) invades Taiwan.

The Dutch company — the world's only supplier of state-of-the-art chip manufacturing equipment. It is noteworthy that its main customer is the Taiwanese company TSMC, which produces more than 90 percent of modern microcircuits.

Remote shutdown can be applied to equipment that works in the short-wave ultraviolet spectrum. It is used to make chips for weapons. This equipment has found itself at the center of the race for dominance in the field of chip production. Yes, China is trying to become a leader in the semiconductor industry.
