Chinese sixth-generation fighter J-XDS: new photos reveal its unique features

New photos have provided valuable information about the unique features of the Chinese J-XDS aircraft (also known as J-50), which many experts consider to be the prototype of a sixth-generation fighter. First of all, Army Recognition experts drew attention to the fully movable wingtips, which are a non-standard solution when it comes to fighter aircraft. This solution should improve the aircraft's flight characteristics, in particular, its maneuverability. 

It is also clearly visible that the J-XDS does not have vertical tail, which provides stability to the aircraft in flight and is responsible for yaw – the angular movements of the aircraft relative to the vertical axis. 

It is expected that this approach will improve the stealth of the J-XDS. The absence of vertical tail indicates a perfect flight control system.

In general, almost nothing is known about the new Chinese aircraft. Experts suggest that the length of the twin-engine aircraft and the span of its lambda-shaped wing are 22 m, while the maximum take-off weight is 40 tons. The maximum speed of the J-XDS is estimated at Mach 2, and the combat radius is estimated at 2,200 km.
