Italy has blocked the Chinese app DeepSeek due to insufficient information about the use of users' personal data. This was reported by the local regulator Garante.
The release states that the order has already come into force to protect the personal data of Italians.
According to the regulator, this happened two days after the Italian authorities requested information about how users' personal data is processed. The regulator asked what data is collected, for what purpose, and whether it is stored in China. The Chinese company's response was deemed insufficient, as it stated that it does not operate in Italy and is not subject to European law.
As reported by Reuters, in Italy the DeepSeek chatbot has already disappeared from the official Apple and Google stores.
