China has urged the United States to listen to “rational voices” regarding the social platform TikTok as a law banning the app comes into force.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman expressed the hope that the US side “will seriously listen to rational voices and ensure an open, honest, a fair and non-discriminatory business environment for market participants from all countries operating in the United States”.
“TikTok has been operating in the United States for many years and enjoys great love from American users”, – she said.
A representative of the Chinese foreign ministry said that TikTok “plays a positive role in promoting domestic employment and stimulating consumption in the United States”.
As a reminder, by the end of the day on January 18, the TikTok application began to become unavailable in the United States due to a law passed almost a year ago requiring TikTok to dissociate itself from its Chinese owner under threat of a ban.
US President-elect Donald Trump has a more favorable attitude towards TikTok and recently said that he sees no reason to abandon the platform, boasting about its reach.
He then promised to postpone the blocking of the TikTok platform, and said that on Monday, On January 20, after his inauguration, he will issue a decree extending the period after which the law that caused the TikTok blocking must come into effect.
