The Council of Succession officially proclaimed Charles III the new king of the United Kingdom. The proclamation was immediately signed (in order) by the heir to the throne, Prince William, Queen Consort Camilla, the head of the Council, British Prime Minister Liz Truss and the Archbishop of Canterbury, reports the BBC.

All present, except for the master of ceremonies, are dressed in black or purple, as a sign of grief for the deceased queen.
