Changed mind: iPhone 17 smartphone will not change the camera design to an ugly horizontal line

For a long time, we have heard that future iPhones will receive a horizontal camera block similar to the Pixel. We have seen renders from various insiders who published similar data in unison. But all this remained speculation, since the company creates several different prototypes during development in order to approve or cancel a decision at the testing stage. Judging by new rumors, Apple has canceled these plans.

What will the iPhone 17 be like

To be honest, none of the renders that appeared on the network looked like a device that Apple could release. Some even looked like cheap Chinese smartphones. It didn't even look like past Google Pixel models, which also didn't impress with their design. So it's no wonder that the company abandoned these plans, if it even considered them, reports 24 Kanal with reference to MacRumors.

But everything is not so bad, because an insider from Instant Digital reports that there will still be some changes. It is reported that at least two iPhone 17 Pro models will receive a “significant update” to the design of the rear panel, but the camera will still be triangular, like today. What exactly will be changed is unclear. Previously, the company only moved the sensors a little, placing them either one above the other or in the form of a slanted line. So this time we can expect something similar. But a large horizontal module, as noted, is not currently part of the company's plans.

Insiders in One Voice claim that the design of the ‌iPhone 17‌ Pro should “change significantly”, but now it is not clear exactly how. The triangular camera remains, the glass on the back panel, as reported by the same Instant Digital, also remains to preserve the possibility of wireless charging. The company is also unlikely to remove the image of the apple. So what changes await us?

The only thing that has not been refuted so far is that the back panel can be divided into two colors: a lighter one at the bottom, and a darker shade at the top, where the cameras are located.

Possible iPhone 17 Pro Design/Photo by MacRumors

It's worth noting that Instant Digital has a mixed reputation when it comes to Apple rumors, having been wrong on more than one occasion. However, it has provided impressively accurate information about the iPhone 14 in 2023, the matte back glass of the iPhone 15 and ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus, the Apple Watch Series 9, and many other details.

The new design could potentially help Apple boost sales in regions like China, where competition is high and consumers have a lot of choice, which is leading to declining sales. The dual-color design would also help Apple stand out from the crowd.
