The Socceroos' adventure in Qatar came to an end last night in the round of 16 against Argentina (2-1), after a more than honorable run and having past the chickens for the first time in sixteen years. His coach Graham Arnold has been in office since 2018, and the results obtained during this World Cup could allow him to be reinforced, while his contract expired at the end of the competition. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the 59-year-old technician is giving himself time to think about a contract renewal.

For his part, Chris Nikou, the president of the Australian Federation said: “This Socceroos team led by Graham Arnold has represented Australia and Australian rules football impeccably in Qatar. (…) On the biggest stage in world football, the Socceroos have shown the fighting spirit and the determination of the Australians, recognized throughout the world, and have known how to measure themselves against the best. I am incredibly proud”.
