Actually, Cathy Hummels just wanted to clarify her point of view with her snow photo: she no longer wants to put up with body criticism. However, she caused another annoyance with a sentence under her photo.

“I was actually out in the snow again and of course I took another photo,” Cathy Hummels explains to her 600,000 Instagram followers in a story. Why is she doing that? “Because I’m already looking forward to all the people who have nothing better to do than bodyshamen”, says the 33-year-old. The bikini photo in the snow should above all make a statement clear. “I didn’t do it because I want to flirt with it, but because I just think we shouldn’t put up with it. Everyone should do what they want.”
Before that, Hummels had repeatedly have to take negative comments for their character. Many complained that she was too thin. Others didn’t understand why she had to loll around in a bikini in the cold snow.
The wife of professional footballer Mats Hummels actually wanted to counter this negative mood with self-confidence. “Do what you like.
The main thing is that it makes you happy,” she explained. In her opinion, women especially should remember that they are just like them, right. “As long as you don’t hurt anyone, everything is allowed, right?” Asked Hummels.
“To each his own” – causes criticism
But that was exactly the problem with her latest posting. Because under her bikini photo in the snow, the influencer wrote: “To each his own.”
The sentence, whose origin as a philosophical theory can be traced back to ancient Greece, was later coined by the National Socialists. It was written on the gate of the Buchenwald concentration camp, built in 1937 near Weimar.
The sentence was addressed to the prisoners in the camp. So they should be persuaded that they deserved it.
Many users of the photo platform also noticed the post negatively because of the sentence. “Dear Cathy, great photo. I just want to draw your attention to your statement ‘To each his own’ to rethink”, commented a follower friendly. Many others joined her, albeit in a less friendly manner.
Some time later, Hummels changed her post, now writing: “Everyone as he likes” under her photo. However, she left the change uncommented.
