British actress Maggie Smith, star of Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, has died aged 89, the BBC reports.
According to her sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin, the celebrity passed away in hospital.

She died peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday, September 27. Her family and friends were by her side. She leaves behind two sons and five loving grandchildren, who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother,” the statement said.
During her life, Maggie Smith starred in more than 50 films, won two Oscars, eight BAFTAs, four Golden Globes and one Emmy.
In the Harry Potter films, the woman played the role of Professor Minerva McGonagall.
