Cannon, Javelin and machine gun: combat robot R600 showed how to destroy drones and more

The combat module was installed on the unmanned infantry support vehicle S-MET. Together, they should significantly strengthen ground forces, striking targets at a distance of more than 300 meters.

The US Army tested the capabilities of the new R600 remote-controlled combat module from Electro Optic Systems USA during the Convergence Capstone 4 (PC-C4) exercise. held from March 15 to 20. Its main purpose — combat drones, reports Army Recognition.

The R600 module is equipped with a Northrop Grumman 30mm M230LF cannon, a machine gun and four Javelin missiles, and the platform for it was a robotic infantry support vehicle (S-MET). During the exercise, the robot was able to effectively neutralize small UAVs at a distance of more than 300 m, as well as hit ground targets with a cannon.

The increased firepower of the R600 played a major role in improving the combat effectiveness of the infantry. It should be noted that the integration of Javelin anti-tank missiles also helped to expand the capabilities of ground forces.

The R600 battle station testing was conducted in cooperation with several industry partners. For example, the company Boresight Aerial Targets provided inexpensive UAVs that served as targets, and experts from Lockheed Martin helped to install the missiles.

Senior officers of the US Army who attended the exercises positively evaluated the new technologies that are important for the Army's success in future conflicts and will influence future procurement decisions.

The demonstration of the R600 Remote Warfare Module is in line with the Army's strategic priorities of integrating more unmanned and remotely operated systems to protect the warfighter.
