Canada sent one and a half hundred units of military equipment to Latvia

Canada sent 150 different army vehicles to Latvia to strengthen its military contingent in the country.

According to Ukrinform, the relevant photos are posted on the page of the Embassy of Canada in Latvia in the social network X.

“ Lower the pantas! Over the weekend, 150 vehicles were unloaded at the port of Riga. These vehicles are part of Canada's commitment to create a multinational advanced land brigade by the fall of 2024, the message says.

As reported, within the framework of the operation “Reassurance” hundreds of Canadian soldiers, as well as representatives of several other NATO countries, have been serving as part of a multinational battalion in Latvia for six years to deter possible Russian aggression. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine Canada promised to double its military contingent in Latvia and urgently purchased modern anti-tank weapons and air defense systems for its military in Latvia, including for combating drones.

In addition, a tank squadron of 15 Leopard 2 main battle tanks has already arrived in the country. It is expected that the brigade will be fully staffed by 2026 and will include up to 2,200 Canadian troops.
