Canada hands over hundreds of armored vehicles to Ukraine
Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand is visiting Kyiv and announced that her country would transfer 200 Senator armored vehicles to Ukraine.
“This new military assistance package is in response to a specific request from Ukraine for these vehicles, which are being purchased from the Canadian company Roshel. The aid is valued at more than $90 million and is part of a $500 million additional military aid to Ukraine announced by Prime Minister Trudeau in November 2022,” the statement said.
Senator armored vehicles equipped with the most modern, best-in-class technology, and weapons can be easily installed on them. These vehicles allow the safe transport of personnel and equipment, as well as medical evacuations.
Minister Anand announced the news along with her Ukrainian counterpart, Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, with whom she held a bilateral meeting.
During the meeting, Minister Anand and Minister Reznikov discussed how Canada can continue to meet Ukraine's urgent defense needs. Minister Reznikov thanked Canada for more than $1 billion in military aid provided to Ukraine since February 2022. This assistance includes a NASAMS surface-to-air missile system with appropriate ammunition, 39 armored combat support vehicles, anti-tank weapons, M777 howitzers and ammunition, and much more,” the statement said.
The vehicle has a steel body and glass capable of withstanding 50-caliber gun rounds. "Senator" also has an explosion-proof body, so it can withstand a grenade or mine explosion. The tires of the car have a “Run Flat” system. with pumping on the go.
The car is equipped with a system that can counteract chemical, biological, radiological attacks, generating clean air inside the pressurized cabin.
