Ukrainian cameraman Mykyta Kuzmenko was nominated for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards for Dua Lipa's “Illusion” clip. The video was shot by director Tanya Muinho.

Cinematographer Nikita Kuzmenko has already worked with such famous music artists as Jennifer Lopez, Harry Styles, Lenny Kravitz, Peggy Goo, and also shot a commercial for Dunkin Donuts directed by Ben Affleck.

Among his works in feature films – the film “Living Fire”, which in 2015 received a special jury award at the Hot Docs documentary film festival in Toronto, and in 2017 won in two nominations of the Ukrainian national award “Golden Dzyga”, in particular for camera work.

In addition, Kuzmenko shot the film “Pamfir”.For this work, he received an award in the nomination “Best cinematography” of the Raindance Film Festival. The operator also filmed music videos for Jamala (“Tangled”), Sophie Willi (Connected), Monatik (Jomo), Post Malone and The Weeknd (One Right Now).

The music video for the song “Illusion” was shot at the Montjuic municipal pool in Barcelona (Spain) – the place where Kylie Minogue's legendary Slow video was previously shot. “Illusion” became the third single from the singer's album Radical Optimism, which was released on May 3, 2024.

The Ukrainian cameraman will compete for the award in the same category with the Russian Anatoly Trofimov, who shot a music video for Ariana Grande's song “we can't be friends (wait for your love)”.

The annual prestigious MTV Video Music Awards announced the applicants on August 7. The leader in the number of nominations this year was the American singer Taylor Swift, who will win in ten categories.
