A lawsuit has been filed against Polish President Andrzej Duda for an offensive statement about Poles.

The trial will take place in 2025, writes the Polish publication Fakt.

We are talking about Andrzej Duda's commentary on Poles and other viewers of the film “Green Border” by Polish director Agnieszka Holland. The film shows the story of refugees from the Middle East and Africa who are trying to get to the European Union through the Belarusian-Polish border.

The film also shows how Belarusian propaganda points migrants to the Belarusian-Polish border as an easy way to get to the EU.

Commenting on the film, Andrzej Duda compared the viewers of the film to pigs.

— The fact that Ms. Holland thus shows Polish officials who do their job for Polish society, for the safety of all of us, the safety of Poland, then I am not surprised that the Border Guard officers who watched this film used the slogan "Only pigs sit in the cinema," Duda said.

Later, the Polish president of Poland explained that it was a quote, not his words. In addition, he tried to explain his phrase by the "law on quoting".

However, the Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior decided otherwise. According to the Center, President Duda insulted Polish citizens by comparing them to pigs.

The first hearing in the case against President Duda is expected to take place on October 24, 2025 in Warsaw.

In a comment to Fakt, the Center's lawyers added that this trial has no precedent in history. However, possible verdicts in the case may include an apology from Duda, compensation or damages. In addition, the court may oblige the President of Poland to publish an apology in the press.
