(La Quinta) Max Homa has enjoyed success on the Stadium course over the past two days and if he does so once again on Sunday he could sign a second career victory on the PGA Tour.
Homa had nine birdies and handed in a 65 (under-7) card to share the top of the American Express tournament with Tony Finau and Si Woo Kim on Saturday.
All three golfers are showing a cumulative score of minus-15 and are one stroke ahead for first place. Finau and Kim both played 67.
Richy Werenski completed the course in 65 strokes and climbed alone to fourth, minus-14.
Russell Knox had the best round of the day, a 64, and jumped 32 places to the fifth place. Knox, Brian Harman (67) and Emiliano Grillo (68) have a cumulative score of under-13.
Canada’s Roger Sloan brought in a 69 card and is four strokes behind the leaders in 13e position. His compatriot Nick Taylor was in second after round two, but a 74 on Saturday sent him tumbling to 31e step, at minus-8.
Adam Hadwin (55e) and David Hearn (63e) are the other representatives of the maple leaf to play this weekend.
