Calculation of points – in Ukraine, they want to change the principle of calculating pensions

>>/Ukrinform

In Ukraine, it is planned to change the approach to calculating pensions by introducing a new system of calculating points that will take into account the number of years of insurance experience and the amount of wages.

This was announced by the Minister of Social Affairs politician Oksana Zholnovich, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to her statement during the presentation of “Social Portal”.

The main factors for calculating pensions will be work experience and the number of contributions to the insurance system. These criteria will be converted into points that will accumulate monthly. Upon retirement, everyone will have a certain number of points, which will be converted into a percentage of the average salary in the country, which will determine the amount of the pension.

Within the pension reform, we strive to calculate and pay pensions as much as possible simple and clear, Zholnovich noted.

Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich emphasized that the proposed approach to calculating pensions is the most relevant, as it reflects the real income of Ukrainians.

This format reflects that all of us, as Ukrainians, live within the average salaries in the country, and this is the amount that shows the real standard of living in a specific year, Zholnovich noted. According to her, such a mechanism will be the most fair way of accumulating joint pension contributions, as it will be based on real income and seniority jobs.

Earlier, Zholnovich emphasized that due to frequent changes in the pension system, the calculation of pensions has become too complicated. In this regard, the Ministry of Social Policy seeks to simplify the calculation mechanism, making it more transparent and understandable for citizens.
