Bulgaria will more than double the visa fee for Russian tourists, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said.
According to the EU decision, Sofia will abolish various visa exemptions fees that Russians use when entering the country. Thus, the cost of a Bulgarian visa for Russians will increase from 35 to 80 euros.
“It is impossible to completely ban Russians from entering our country, but the cost of visas will be increased. This is an EU decision that we do not consider expedient, but as members of the European Union, we will have to comply with it,” Dimitrov said.
He added that although direct flights between the two countries were suspended after the start of the war Russia vs Ukraine, more than 60,000 Russian citizens visited Bulgaria this year.
