Olaparib is the first ever cancer-fighting drug that corrects an inherited genetic error that causes tumors to develop. This drug has proven to be effective in treating women, but it can also be used for men with prostate cancer. We are talking about the presence of a progressive disease in the stronger sex. The first results of an in-depth clinical study were obtained, which led to the recommendation of the use of olaparib in the treatment of prostate cancer.
The tests involved 387 men with this disease. During the course of therapy, specialists determined that the named drug restores DNA. Scientists are awaiting a conclusion from the European Society for Medical Oncology, as it is necessary to approve olaparib as a basic drug for the treatment of prostate cancer.
