British PM clothed and housed by gay millionaire

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer broke parliamentary rules by failing to declare that a wealthy businessman and donor to the Labour Party had bought expensive clothes for his wife Victoria.

British millionaire and Labour donor Waheed Alli paid for a personal shopper and clothes for the British prime minister's wife. This happened both before and after the parliamentary elections, which Starmer's party triumphantly won.

The prime minister's registered financial interests on the parliamentary website show that he has received several donations from Alli, including several pairs of glasses, clothes and accommodation. While these donations from Alli were declared, the clothes given to Starmer's wife were not.

MPs in the UK are required to register gifts and donations within 28 days of receiving them. Most recently, the prime minister announced that Alli had provided him with accommodation for several weeks, valued at more than £20,000.

A Downing Street spokesman told Reuters in a statement that Starmer and his team had sought advice from the relevant institutions before taking up office and believed their demands had been met.

“However, following further reflection this month, we have made additional declarations,” the spokesman said.

Alli is a British media entrepreneur and former chief executive of online fashion retailer ASOS.

The Conservative Party has called for a full investigation into “apparent serious breaches of parliamentary rules” by the prime minister.

Earlier, Lord Waheed Alli, a prominent television magnate and the first openly gay person to sit in the House of Lords, was at the centre of a growing patronage row within the Labour Party. Alli, who has made large donations to the Labour Party, including £500,000, was given unlimited access to Downing Street thanks to a security pass.
