The sequel to the most beloved Netlix series, with 82 million views after just 28 days of its debut, forced to stop indefinitely

Two Covid cases in one week, set of «Bridgerton 2» closed. Two cases on the set in England, precisely in the country that most of all was affected by the spread of the Delta variant of the Coronavirus (just today “Freedom Day” begins, dragging with much controversy, precisely because of the increase in infections). And among the many to pay for it there are – as anticipated by Tv Blog – cast and crew of the second series of »Bridgerton» or the biggest success ever achieved by Netflix. The first series, which premiered on Christmas Day, recorded 82 million views just 28 days after its debut, confirming itself as the biggest hit among Netflix original series.

Based on Julia Quinn’s novels

“Bridgerton” is an American television series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, based on the novels by Julia Quinn, set in the world of London high society during a utopian Regency Era. The great success of the first series had made all fans hope that there was a sequel. And so it was, even if the news was accompanied by another news that made millions of users turn up their noses: the beautiful actor Regé-Jean Page, who gave his face to the irresistible Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, it will not be in the new series. A bad shot, but the production was quick to explain that there will be equally intriguing love stories, twists and more.

The cast at work

And so the cast got to work to make the new episodes as soon as possible. Production of «Bridgerton 2» began last March, in England, obviously following a strict safety protocol. But the work had to stop due to a new infection discovered on Saturday 17 July 2021. Only last Thursday the production had stopped, for the same reason, but already on Friday we were back to work. Twenty-four hours later, the new stop: neither Netflix nor Shondaland have comments on who contracted the virus – it is not known whether it is a member of the technical staff or an actress or actor – but the only certainty is that filming has been suspended indefinitely.

Twelve Emmy Award nominations

The first to break the news was the site Deadline Hollywood: the person who tested positive is now in isolation. The site says that for now the sto is indefinite, which would suggest that the person affected by the virus may be an actor or an actress. Despite goodbyes of actors and coronavirus, the popularity of “Bridgerton” seems not to feel tired: there have been twelve nominations from the first season at the 2021 Emmy Awards: three are in the major categories (Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Regé-Jean Page and Best Director Drama), while nine belong to the technical categories.

The protagonist Daphne Bridgerton (actress Phoebe Dynevor)

The protagonist of the first season is Daphne Bridgerton, Duchess of Hastings, played by a beautiful and elegant Phoebe Dynevor, who will continue to have a fundamental role, despite the farewell of her beloved duke (Regé-Jean Page). But in this second series we will see – in addition to the mysterious Lady Whistledown, the noblewoman puppeteer of the aristocratic gossip – the love affairs of the first-born Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) brother of Daphne, and it seems that they have nothing to envy to love affairs of the first season.
