The former Brazilian defender White, world champion in 1994, called “Celebrate life” after leaving the Rio de Janeiro hospital where he was hospitalized for almost three weeks for a serious condition of covid-19.
“Let’s celebrate life!” Claudio Ibraim Vaz Leal, better known as Branco, told the Globo network’s Fantástico program broadcast on Sunday night.
“I want to thank the Brazilian people, the prayers they made for me were very beautiful,” added the former left-back.
Branco left the Copa Star hospital in Copacabana on Saturday, the day before his 57th birthday.
The former player was held since March 17 and inclusor became intubated by a “severe picture” of the virus, as reported by the clinic.
“I was very, very bad,” said the old shirt 6. “The work of the team of doctors, nurses (…), I had a spectacular attendance,” he added.
After being discharged from hospital, Branco was taken with his wife and children to the base of the Brazilian Soccer Confederation, where he serves as coordinator of the youth teams, to receive a tribute.
On the facade of its headquarters, the CBF installed a banner with an image of the ex-lateral dressed in the ‘verdeamarela’ and carrying the Brazilian flag.
“May your example of self-improvement inspire Brazilians in the struggle for life”, reads a message that accompanies the poster.
Outstanding man from Brazil, four-time champion in the United States-1994, Branco would have been infected on a trip with the U-18 ‘Canarinha’ to the city of Recife, at a time when Brazil, with more than 330,000 dead, is experiencing the worst attack in pandemic.
