US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Prague to participate in meetings of NATO foreign ministers, where, according to US officials, a “significant demonstration of support” is expected. Ukraine.

On Wednesday, May 30, Blinken said the United States is actively working to provide Ukraine with additional air defense capabilities to defend against increasing Russian attacks.

However, Blinken, like other Biden administration officials, said that Washington does not encourage or allow the use of US-supplied weapons for attacks inside Russia, reports “Voice of America”.

“Ukraine must make its own decisions on how to defend itself in the most effective way< /em>, – Blinken said. – We will do everything to ensure that she has the necessary equipment..

From July 9 to 11, Washington will host a NATO summit, which, according to Blinken, will achieve “very strong results” in terms of further integrating Ukraine into the Alliance.

Thirty-two countries have already concluded or will soon conclude bilateral security agreements with Ukraine.

The US Permanent Representative to NATO, Ambassador Julianne Smith, told reporters that since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Alliance has taken a number of steps to strengthen its eastern flank.

“This has taken many forms. Most importantly, immediately after the war began, we announced the creation of four multinational battlegroups,” Smith said.

“We take the security and concerns of our friends in Eastern Europe very seriously. That remains a priority,” the diplomat said. ” We are always trying to figure out what else we can do for our friends in Eastern Europe while continuing to support our friends in Ukraine.”.
