Bitfinex and Tether refused to fire employees

Bitfinex and Tether are not planning to lay off employees amid the unfavorable market situation. The Block writes about this.

Bitfinex COO Claudia Lagorio said in a commentary to the publication that the exchange continues to invest in talent and resources in a “balanced and methodical way”.

“We have a range of career opportunities that we are looking to fill and our hiring plans remain in place,” she stressed.

A Tether spokesperson told The Block that the company is also committed to staff growth. For the USDT issuer, he said, “everything remains as usual.”

“Tether is profitable and will continue to hire in key roles to support the business. We care about our employees and their future – we have not laid off staff even in past crypto winters and will never do this, ”the source said.

According to Lagorio, Bitfinex and Tether employs 250 people.

A similar position is taken by the Binance bitcoin exchange. Its head, Changpeng Zhao, called the crypto winter a good time to hire new employees and further develop the business through various acquisitions.

Earlier, BitMEX, Robinhood, Gemini, Bitso and the parent company of the Brazilian Mercado Bitcoin exchange announced about staff optimization.

The Coinbase trading platform will cut staff by about 18%, and the BlockFi crypto-lending platform by 20%.

Recall that in June, CEO Chris Marszalek announced plans to lay off about 260 employees .

According to some reports, the Bybit cryptocurrency exchange is also going to cut staff.
